Viterbo University welcomed representatives from more than 20 colleges Tuesday to a national symposium on community service and leadership.La Crosse Tribune
Registration and a keynote address kicked off the three-day event, a bi-annual gathering of higher education institutions in the Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities.
The symposium’s theme is “Franciscan leadership,” referring to the servant leadership embodied by St. Francis of Assisi, a 13th century Catholic saint. The theme is a perfect fit for Viterbo as the university hosts the symposium for the first time, said Sister Georgia Christensen of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration and co-chairwoman of the event’s planning committee.
“It’s taking a look at working with the whole community,” she said. “Serving the whole community, rather than managing.”
Nearly 250 faculty, staff and other educators from Franciscan colleges will visit La Crosse to attend the symposium. Breakout sessions today and Thursday will cover theology and the underpinnings of the event’s three sub-themes: serving, learning and leading.
The event is a perfect chance to showcase the Coulee Region and the community, but it also allows Viterbo to connect with other schools that share the common tradition of Franciscan values, Viterbo President Rick Artman said.
“We all express that tradition in different ways,” Artman said. “This enables us to come together.” ?
Here's Obama staffer Sr. Marlene Weisenbeck leading a FSPA assembly in 2009.
It may be noted that 4 members of Viterbo's board signed the Walker recall, a recall of a staunchly pro-life sitting governor for a rabidly pro-abortion Catholic(in good standing as far as we know) challenger.
To go along with this, the FSPA declined statement on the LCWR investigation:
Catholic bishops have scolded the nuns for focusing on social justice issues instead of speaking out more strongly against [translation: actively supporting] abortion, homosexuality and women priests. The Vatican has also said the nuns suffered “a prevalence of certain radical feminist themes incompatible with the Catholic faith.”I found a nice little site on Traditional Women's Religious Orders if you are interested.
Members of the La Crosse-based FSPA declined to be interviewed for this story, saying the Leadership Conference of Women Religious had asked they not speak on its behalf. But the local nuns issued a statement Wednesday through the umbrella group calling the Vatican’s accusations “misrepresentations of LCWR and U.S. Catholic Sisters.” [I guess I don't understand why they don't stand up for what they believe in. If I passionately believe in something, I'm willing to admit I am. If I believed it was physically possible that a woman could become a priest, I would admit it. ]
PS> The FSPA does not like me.

looks kinda pagan
"Obama staffer" LOL!
Weisenbeck is one of those who want women to be ordained. Gee, you can hardly tell from how she looks in those ridiculous pics with her in male looking vestments. If she was ordained she'd probably start marrying gay couples.
She is invaluable to Obama. He can prop her up to give the false immpession that his views are not in conflict with Catholic teaching. She's a willing "useful idiot" for atheist big gov leftists.
