MKE Catholic Herald seeks reporter

Seeking an energetic, enterprising reporter with strong writing and interviewing skills willing to accept a variety of writing and editing tasks. Some weekend and evening assignments. Knowledge of Catholic Church teaching essential. A bachelor's degree in journalism or related field required. Duties include development of editorial content for print and Web. You must understand the importance of social media and have a multi-platform approach to news coverage. Understanding of basic HTML code, website structure and function plus prior use of a content management system is required. Experience with WordPress a plus.

32-hour per week position. Send cover letter, résumé and three writing samples to: Managing Editor, Catholic Herald, catholicherald@archmil.org, by Sept. 24.

The Milwaukee Catholic Herald, which is not very substantive and features a lot of pandering articles, should follow the example set by the UK Catholic Herald. You actually learn substantive things by reading it. They've recruited excellent, high-level writers who educate and catechize readers with their articles.

Dear Anonymous 2, I doubt UK Catholic Herald are overrun with "Weakland-istas" in their diocese, so they actually WANT to educate and catechize readers with their articles. I'll be praying for a BRAVE and COURAGEOUS soul!

A good Catholic reporter would never be hired by the Catholic Herald. The Weakland people would not allow it.
