State Senate Passes Bills Defunding Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin

Bills diverting federal Title X Family Planning funds away from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI) and cutting the organization’s heavily inflated Medicaid contraceptive drug reimbursement rate passed the Wisconsin Senate today. Assembly Bill (AB) 310 passed on a 19-14 vote while Senate Bill (SB) 238 passed on a 19-14 vote. Together, the bills are expected to eliminate approximately $8 million in public funding from PPWI, the state’s largest abortion provider.

“Pro-Life Wisconsin thanks Senate Republicans for passing legislation that respects the consciences of pro-life taxpayers who strongly oppose the use of public funds for abortion,” said PLW State Director Dan Miller. “Abortion is not healthcare. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, a 'non-profit' organization with a net worth of over $10 million that profits from killing unborn babies, should not be considered a healthcare provider. Wisconsin cannot continue to throw money at organizations that perform abortions. We thank Senator Fitzgerald for scheduling AB 310 and SB 238 and Senator Kapenga for his intelligent and committed leadership on these critical bills.”
