Planned Parenthood sues State of Wisconsin to overturn some abortion restrictions

MADISON - Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin asked a federal judge Wednesday to strike down laws that prevent nurses from performing abortions and limit the ability of women to obtain medications that induce abortions.

In its filing in federal court in Madison, Planned Parenthood seeks to invalidate state laws that allow only doctors to perform abortions. The group contends advanced practice nurses — such as nurse practitioners and nurse-midwives — should be able to perform certain types of abortions.

WI Budget Committee Requires Audit of Planned Parenthood, Other Medicaid Family Planning Providers

Madison – The Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) adopted a budget motion yesterday that would require the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the Department of Health Services (DHS) to conduct a comprehensive audit of all Medicaid family planning payments to Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and other Wisconsin family planning providers from Jan. 1, 2013, to Dec. 31, 2016.

The motion directs proceeds from overpayments or incorrect payments resulting from the audit to be expended on various state budget items in the 2019-2021 biennium, including DHS fraud and error investigation and reduction efforts, public health aids, community aids, grants for community programs, and treatment services for child victims of sex trafficking.

Planned Parenthood Closing in Sheboygan - Prayers Answered!

By Dan Miller of Pro-Life Wisconsin

According to a My Sheboygan article, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin announced their plans to close their Sheboygan office.

The closure will take effect on Thursday, August 17th, 2017, the article states.

Here’s how I see what happened. In 2014, the faithful of the Sheboygan area gathered to pray outside this facility with 40 Days for Life. They took their pro-life convictions and exercised their First Amendment free speech rights in a public forum.

The prayer spurred the community to action. Not long after the 40 Days for Life campaign, the pro-life community of Sheboygan identified a building out of which they could operate a pregnancy resource center. That building is now the home of Anchor of Hope Health Center, located at 703 N 9th Street in Sheboygan – just 1.3 miles away from Planned Parenthood’s soon to be vacated office. Prayer and action.

I spoke with Anchor of Hope Health Center’s Executive Director, Jacky Drewry, about the good news. “It really reminds me of Romans 2:6-7 - Who will render to every man according to his works. To them indeed, who according to patience in good work, seek glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life.” Drewry continued, “It’s so humbling. We walk on the shoulders of those that have gone before us. Their prayers – our prayers, have been answered.”

Drewry mentioned the providence of all of it. “We have expanded our services to include STI testing & treatment, with a formal announcement to the public of a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on August 8th along with an open house. We know this means we will be busier than ever.”

Anchor of Hope Health Center offers the following services free of charge in complete confidentiality: pregnancy screening, ultrasound imaging, STI testing & treatment, abortion recovery, parenting classes and many other life affirming services.

ProLifeWi: Bill to prohibit University of Wisconsin abortions being circulated

State Rep. Andre Jacque (R-DePere) and State Sen. Chris Kapenga (R-Delafield) are currently circulating a bill that would prohibit both UW System and UW Hospital and Clinics Authority employees from performing or assisting in the performance of abortions while in the scope of their employment.

This bill, LRB-0916/2, would effectively end UW medical resident abortion training at the Madison Planned Parenthood abortion facility, a grisly arrangement that stains the reputation of Wisconsin’s public university system and flagship hospital.

In 2010, an open records request by Pro-Life Wisconsin and Alliance Defending Freedom revealed that since 2007, more than $58,000 of UW hospital authority funds had been used to train future abortionists at the Planned Parenthood in Madison.

The UW hospital authority paid physician medical residents in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health Ob/Gyn Department for two four-week rotations at Planned Parenthood, where they viewed and performed abortions with the oversight and assistance of department faculty.

In 2011, Gov. Scott Walker signed Act 32, the state biennial budget, which amended Wis. Stat. 20.927 to explicitly include the UW hospital authority as a “state agency” prohibited from funding abortions. In effect, this prohibited the UW hospital authority from continuing payments for medical residents performing abortions at the Madison Planned Parenthood.

However, the contractual agreement between the UW and Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin was renewed in a 2012 memorandum of understanding in which reimbursement for abortion services continued to flow from Planned Parenthood to UW.

“The closure of the Planned Parenthood clinic in Grand Chute is a clear indication that God is hearing our prayers,” - Bp David Ricken

ALLOUEZ — Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is permanently closing its abortion facility in Appleton (town of Grand Chute). The facility had stopped performing abortions last fall, due to lack of personnel. Various news outlets noted that Planned Parenthood was unable to find an abortionist.

The closing of the Grand Chute site came due to costs to update security. Several news outlets quoted Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin’s chief operating officer Chris Williams as saying that security upgrades to the Appleton site would cost an estimated $300,000, twice the value of the site.

In 2014, “Appleton North Health Clinic” performed almost 600 abortions.

“The closure of the Planned Parenthood clinic in Grand Chute is a clear indication that God is hearing our prayers,” Bishop David Ricken told The Compass on Aug. 23.

He noted that the closure happened Aug. 22, the memorial of the Queenship of Mary, adding that this is “the title (Mary) gave when appearing in Champion,” where the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help is located.

JS: Fox Valley abortion clinic closing

Madison — Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is closing its Appleton abortion clinic, preventing women from accessing abortion anywhere north of Madison and Milwaukee in the state.

The announcement comes two months after a legal victory for Planned Parenthood that supporters of abortion rights hoped would keep clinics like the one in Appleton opened.

But the organization announced Monday it was closing the Appleton clinic because of security concerns. Planned Parenthood conducted a review of its clinics after a shooting last year at a clinic in Colorado Springs and found Appleton’s clinic did not have enough protections.

The clinic suspended providing abortions in October 2015 because of a temporary staff shortage. The staff shortage has since been resolved and is not related to the decision to close the clinic, said Chris Williams, chief operating officer of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.

So what's the real reason, I'm not sure.  I suppose this would help to serve as political fodder, claiming the state should be funding security at these locations.  Even though the Appleton location committed 600 abortions last year, it probably is not as lucrative as the other locations.  It's not like when they scare another woman into an abortion that they aren't going to convince them to drive a few hours to have it done anyway.  Heck, considering that people continue to find the abortion procedure so brutal, moving funding topics to faux topics like security is not a bad strategy on their part.  Anything that gets the focus on selling freshly killed baby parts is good for them.

Abortions only at Madison Planned Parenthood, drops contraception services

I must make an embarrassing confession: I am a complacent pro-lifer.

I never thought of myself this way, but it is true. And I have proof.

Abortions only

Beginning May 2, 2016, the Planned Parenthood abortion facility on Madison's east side began providing only abortion services; it will no longer provide screenings or dispense contraceptives.

Although Planned Parenthood purports that performing abortions accounts for only three percent of the services it provides to women, the organization will manage to only perform abortions full-time at the Orin Rd. location, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

That means that every car in the parking lot at Planned Parenthood represents someone seeking OR providing an abortion.

My heart hurts. The grief that this news brings me convicts me: are things worse now?

Planned Parenthood Madison East to End Contraceptive Services, Do Abortions Only

MADISON, WI (April 22, 2016) – Pro-Life Wisconsin has learned from reliable sources that the Madison East Planned Parenthood is planning to transition from its mix of contraceptive and abortion services to offering abortion services exclusively. The change in service model is expected to occur within the next two months. Pro-Life Wisconsin State Director Dan Miller offered the following comments:

“Planned Parenthood is showing its true colors - red and green, blood and money. They claim abortion is a very minor percentage of their total services while touting contraception as the key to reducing abortion. And now its Madison East affiliate is preparing to dump its contraception service to focus, or rather profit, solely on abortion. Their hypocrisy is unsurpassable.

“Pro-Life Wisconsin strongly opposes contraceptive drugs and devices because they harm women and cause early chemical abortions. We will be happy to see the Madison East Planned Parenthood scrap this ‘service.’ At the same time, the move exposes Planned Parenthood’s relentless and heartless obsession with profiting off the killing of preborn babies.

Gov Walker Signs Bills Defunding Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin!

Waukesha – Governor Walker signed two bills into law Thursday that, together, are expected to eliminate approximately $8 million in public funding from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI), the state’s largest abortion provider. Assembly Bill 310 redirects federal Title X family planning funds away from organizations that perform abortions to public entities including state, county, and local health departments and clinics. This will eliminate $3.5 million from PPWI. Senate Bill 238 reduces PPWI’s Medicaid reimbursement rate for contraceptive drugs, requiring that PPWI be reimbursed the actual cost they pay for these drugs and not the artificially inflated rate they are currently receiving. This will eliminate $4.5 million from PPWI.

Gov Walker on whether Planned Parenthood measures open up state to lawsuit

I give up on fixing autoplay. You can watch here.
"We want to make sure as taxpayers whether it's state funds or federal funds that come through the state of Wisconsin that they're used in the way that's responsible and reasonable," Walker said before signing the bills, which he emphasized would withhold money to "controversial entities like Planned Parenthood."

WI State Assembly Passes Bill Defunding Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin

Legislation cutting Planned Parenthood’s heavily inflated Medicaid contraceptive drug reimbursement rate passed the Wisconsin Assembly today. Senate Bill (SB) 238 passed the Assembly on a 61-35 vote. Having already passed the Wisconsin Senate, SB 238 now heads to Governor Walker’s desk for his anticipated signature. The bill is expected to eliminate approximately $4.5 million in public funding from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI), the state’s largest abortion provider.

“Pro-Life Wisconsin thanks Assembly Republicans for passing legislation that respects the consciences of pro-life taxpayers who oppose the use of public funds for abortion,” said PLW State Director Dan Miller. “Abortion is not healthcare. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin profits from killing unborn babies and should not be considered a healthcare provider. Wisconsin cannot continue to throw money at organizations that perform abortions. We thank Speaker Vos for scheduling SB 238 and Representative Jacque for his steadfast leadership on this critical bill.”

Public records request reveals University of Wisconsin and Planned Parenthood lied about baby parts

MADISON, Wis. – An Alliance Defending Freedom public records request has revealed that Planned Parenthood’s Wisconsin affiliate provided researchers at the University of Wisconsin–Madison with the hearts and brains of unborn babies up to 18 weeks old and within five minutes of being aborted despite the fact that both UW and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin have denied any such exchange.

The revelation comes on the heels of the state Senate’s passage Wednesday of a bill that will significantly restrict tax funding for Planned Parenthood if the governor signs the measure, and comes in the midst of discussion in the Assembly on a bill that would ban research at UW on recently aborted babies.

“Planned Parenthood has once again demonstrated its willingness to cover up its role in the gruesome baby parts trade,” said ADF Senior Counsel Matt Bowman. “Both Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and UW-Madison publicly denied they had any arrangement to supply baby parts from women undergoing abortion to researchers conducting gruesome experiments, but the documents we obtained prove they were not telling the truth.”

News of the baby parts exchange between Planned Parenthood and UW first broke on the ADF “Freedom Matters” podcast last Friday. The documents ADF obtained through its state records request include forms and letters from the university and its researchers clearly indicating their arrangement with Planned Parenthood to obtain the baby parts, which were used in medical research that resulted in published studies on fetal hearts and fetal brains in 2014.

State Senate Passes Bills Defunding Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin

Bills diverting federal Title X Family Planning funds away from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI) and cutting the organization’s heavily inflated Medicaid contraceptive drug reimbursement rate passed the Wisconsin Senate today. Assembly Bill (AB) 310 passed on a 19-14 vote while Senate Bill (SB) 238 passed on a 19-14 vote. Together, the bills are expected to eliminate approximately $8 million in public funding from PPWI, the state’s largest abortion provider.

“Pro-Life Wisconsin thanks Senate Republicans for passing legislation that respects the consciences of pro-life taxpayers who strongly oppose the use of public funds for abortion,” said PLW State Director Dan Miller. “Abortion is not healthcare. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, a 'non-profit' organization with a net worth of over $10 million that profits from killing unborn babies, should not be considered a healthcare provider. Wisconsin cannot continue to throw money at organizations that perform abortions. We thank Senator Fitzgerald for scheduling AB 310 and SB 238 and Senator Kapenga for his intelligent and committed leadership on these critical bills.”

Woman thankful the Appleton Planned Parenthood that lied to her has closed

Cindy was reeling. She had just found out she was pregnant. She was going to have a baby—one that she did not plan on and didn’t feel ready to care for. She was desperate, scared, and alone.

Nearby was a Planned Parenthood that offered her a way out of the mess she found herself in. All she had to do, they said, was a take a few pills. These would result in a “natural miscarriage” that would free her from the burden of an unwanted child. Despite her Christian beliefs, Cindy was terrified of having a child and felt an abortion was the only way out.

But then something happened.

Well, if a quota needs to be met to make sure there are enough freshly killed babies, I guess an abortionist will say about anything.

Grand Chute Planned Parenthood clinic suspends abortion services

A local Planned Parenthood clinic is spending abortion services.

Citing what it calls a temporary gap in medical staff coverage.

The Appleton North Health Center tells Action 2 News it stopped providing abortions on October 14. It plans to resume in about six months.

In the interim, Planned Parenthood is referring women in need of abortion services to Madison and Milwaukee.

Fox6: Wisconsin Senate panel to vote on stripping Planned Parenthood funding

MADISON — The state Senate’s health committee is expected to vote on a pair of bills that would strip Planned Parenthood of federal funding and raise its Medicaid expenses.

One measure would require the state to apply for $3.5 million in federal Title X grant money, which currently all goes to Planned Parenthood. The bill would forbid abortion providers from getting any of that money and instead give it to the state’s Well Woman program that provides breast and cervical cancer screenings. The bill passed the full state Assembly in September.

Pro-life prayer rally at Milwaukee's Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Sept 24th

From a reader:
Please join me two weeks from today in praying a Rosary for the conversion of all those involved in abortion and other aspects of the culture of death. We will be gathering at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Thursday, September 24th at 7:15 PM and will walk to the Women's Care Center on Farwell (0.8 miles each way) and should be back to the Cathedral by 8:30 PM. You can find more information about this event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1475306499439795/  Please feel free to share this event with others who might be interested!

In the wake of the Holocaust, many wondered how an entire society could allow so many people to be brutally executed. Sadly, many did not know what was going on, and many good people who knew were afraid or unwilling to do anything. In the past few months, the Center for Medical Progress has revealed that Planned Parenthood is selling fetal remains, compounding the moral problem of its leading role in the abortion industry. (Those videos can be found here: http://www.centerformedicalprogress.org/.)

The most important thing which we can do to bring this atrocity to an end is to fast and pray, and we can support one another by praying publicly.

Therefore, you are invited to gather on Thursday, September 24, in the Atrium of St. John the Evangelist at 7:15 PM. We will pray the Rosary while walking from the Cathedral to the Women's Care Center on Farwell Avenue. Our intention will be the conversion of all mothers and fathers who aren't prepared to be parents and who believe they have no other option than abortion, the softening of the hearts of all who commit abortions, the conversion of all those who fail to see the evil of killing our own children, and the evangelical effectiveness of the World Meeting of Families.

Hundreds protest Planned Parenthood in Madison

MADISON -- Prayer.

That’s what it will take to end abortion.

That’s what rush hour commuters saw as more than 200 people prayed on the sidewalks near the Planned Parenthood clinic on Madison’s east side to do their part to see that facility close and protect the lives of the unborn.

The protest on Monday, Aug. 24, was held in unity with nationwide protests following reports of Planned Parenthood harvesting and selling the organs and tissue of aborted babies.

As people's workdays ended, they arrived at the Orin Rd. site for the 5 p.m. protest, despite the unseasonably cold and gloomy late August weather.

Bp. Ricken asks for intercession of the Holy Innocents in pro-life cause, 200+ attend Appleton prayer vigil

Last Saturday, we celebrated a daily Mass at St. Pius X Church in Appleton and then proceeded to pray in front of the Planned Parenthood clinic in Grand Chute, where abortions are performed on a regular basis. There was a very large turnout, more than 200 people. I asked everyone to bring love into the situation. Our mantra was and is “Jesus loves you. We love you. This place is not the answer.” We are not going to condemn those who have gotten involved with this in any way, but we are here to point out the mercy and love of God available to all of us. Divine Mercy consoles and purifies our hearts.

I asked the people to pray to the Holy Innocents to intercede from heaven to close down that place. We pray to the Holy Innocents of Jesus’ day, who were slain because King Herod ordered the slaughter in order to kill Jesus. Did you realize that there have been 57 million abortions in this country since 1973? All of those innocent children are in the heavenly court. Can you imagine if even a fraction of those children intervene with God to change people’s hearts? We asked the Blessed Mother, Queen of Heaven, to send those holy innocents to intervene to close that “business” down.
