MADISON - Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin asked a federal judge Wednesday to strike down laws that prevent nurses from performing abortions and limit the ability of women to obtain medications that induce abortions.continue at JS

In its filing in federal court in Madison, Planned Parenthood seeks to invalidate state laws that allow only doctors to perform abortions. The group contends advanced practice nurses — such as nurse practitioners and nurse-midwives — should be able to perform certain types of abortions.

Planned Parenthood sues State of Wisconsin to overturn some abortion restrictions
Wisconsin Senate Passes Bill Ending Abortion Coverage for State Employees
Madison, WI – On an 18-14 vote last night, the Wisconsin Senate passed legislation to prohibit elective abortion coverage in Wisconsin’s public health insurance plans. Having passed the Wisconsin Assembly last November, Assembly Bill (AB) 128 now heads to Governor Walker for his expected signature. If AB 128 becomes law, Wisconsin taxpayers would no longer pay for state employees’ abortions.
“Pro-Life Wisconsin thanks Senate Republicans for persevering in their ongoing effort to end taxpayer funding of abortion in our state,” said Matt Sande, PLW Legislative Director. “We especially thank the bill’s authors, Senator Dave Craig and Representatives André Jacque, Ron Tusler and Janel Brandtjen.”
Abortion - the direct, intentional killing of a preborn child - is not health care. In poll after poll, Americans overwhelmingly say they oppose taxpayer-funded abortion. Politico and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health conducted a poll in September 2016 showing that a majority of likely voters, 58 percent, opposed the use of Medicaid funds to pay for abortion. Similarly, a July 2016 Marist poll found that 62 percent of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion.
“We must fully end taxpayer funding of abortion in Wisconsin,” said Sande. “It’s bad enough that child killing is legal. At the very least, taxpayers should not be forced to fund it.”

Public Hearing on Bill Prohibiting UW Employees from Performing Abortions
via Pro-Life WI
State Representative André Jacque (R-De Pere) and State Senator Chris Kapenga (R-Delafield) have introduced companion legislation (Assembly Bill 206 / Senate Bill 154) that would prohibit both UW System and UW Hospital & Clinics Authority employees from performing or assisting in the performance of abortions while in the scope of their employment.
Assembly Bill 206/Senate Bill 154 would effectively end UW medical resident abortion training and UW faculty performance of abortions at the Madison Planned Parenthood abortion facility, a grisly arrangement that stains the reputation of Wisconsin’s public university system and flagship hospital.
The Assembly Science and Technology Committee will hold a public hearing on AB 206 tomorrow Tuesday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 417 North (GAR Hall) of the State Capitol.
Pro-Life Wisconsin Legislative Director Matt Sande will testify in support of AB 206. Cynthia Jones-Nosacek, MD and James Linn, MD, president and vice-president of the Milwaukee Guild of the Catholic Medical Association, respectively, will also testify in support of AB 206.

Gov Walker Signs Bills Defunding Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin!
Waukesha – Governor Walker signed two bills into law Thursday that, together, are expected to eliminate approximately $8 million in public funding from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI), the state’s largest abortion provider. Assembly Bill 310 redirects federal Title X family planning funds away from organizations that perform abortions to public entities including state, county, and local health departments and clinics. This will eliminate $3.5 million from PPWI. Senate Bill 238 reduces PPWI’s Medicaid reimbursement rate for contraceptive drugs, requiring that PPWI be reimbursed the actual cost they pay for these drugs and not the artificially inflated rate they are currently receiving. This will eliminate $4.5 million from PPWI.more at Pro-Life WI

Gov Walker on whether Planned Parenthood measures open up state to lawsuit
I give up on fixing autoplay. You can watch here.
"We want to make sure as taxpayers whether it's state funds or federal funds that come through the state of Wisconsin that they're used in the way that's responsible and reasonable," Walker said before signing the bills, which he emphasized would withhold money to "controversial entities like Planned Parenthood."more at JS

State Senate Passes Bills Defunding Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin
Bills diverting federal Title X Family Planning funds away from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI) and cutting the organization’s heavily inflated Medicaid contraceptive drug reimbursement rate passed the Wisconsin Senate today. Assembly Bill (AB) 310 passed on a 19-14 vote while Senate Bill (SB) 238 passed on a 19-14 vote. Together, the bills are expected to eliminate approximately $8 million in public funding from PPWI, the state’s largest abortion provider.continue at Pro-Life WI
“Pro-Life Wisconsin thanks Senate Republicans for passing legislation that respects the consciences of pro-life taxpayers who strongly oppose the use of public funds for abortion,” said PLW State Director Dan Miller. “Abortion is not healthcare. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, a 'non-profit' organization with a net worth of over $10 million that profits from killing unborn babies, should not be considered a healthcare provider. Wisconsin cannot continue to throw money at organizations that perform abortions. We thank Senator Fitzgerald for scheduling AB 310 and SB 238 and Senator Kapenga for his intelligent and committed leadership on these critical bills.”

State Assembly Passes Bill Defunding Planned Parenthood of WisconsinThey cannot be trusted, says Pro-Life Wisconsin
A bill diverting federal Title X Family Planning funds away from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI) passed the State Assembly today. Assembly Bill (AB) 310 passed on a 60-35 vote.
“We thank Assembly Republicans for taking another bite out of Wisconsin’s abortion giant,” said PLW State Director Dan Miller. “Abortion is not healthcare. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, a non-profit organization with a net worth of over $10 million that profits from killing unborn babies, should not be considered a healthcare provider. Wisconsin cannot continue to throw money at organizations that perform abortions.”
Assembly Bill 310 would redirect federal Title X family planning funds away from organizations that perform abortions to public entities including state, county, and local health departments and clinics. Currently, $3.5 million annually in Title X funds are granted directly to PPWI as they are the sole applicant for the funds in Wisconsin. The legislation would require the state Department of Health Services to apply for the federal Title X grant and, if awarded the grant, give public health entities and programs first priority for funding. It would exclude organizations that provide abortion services from receiving any of the funds.
“Assembly Bill 310 respects the consciences of Wisconsin taxpayers who oppose the use of public funds for abortion,” said PLW Legislative Director Matt Sande. “Family planning funds undeniably free up resources within receiving organizations, like Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, to engage in the surgical abortion business. And despite their protestations, it is an open question whether they engage in the grisly trade of aborted fetal body parts. They cannot be trusted and are not entitled to the people of Wisconsin’s money.”
Pro-Life Wisconsin thanks Rep. Andre Jacque (R-De Pere) for his strong leadership on AB 310. We urge the Wisconsin Legislature and Governor Walker to keep moving down the long road toward totally defunding Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin of all taxpayer dollars. The 2011-2013 state biennial budget began the journey by prohibiting state and federal Title V Maternal and Child Health funds from going to organizations or their affiliates that perform or refer for abortions, redirecting them to public entities.
Taxpayer Money Used For “Services” at New Pro-Abortion Facility in Lake Delton/WI Dells Area

Wisconsin Family Action president Julaine Appling has this to say about the pro-abortion facility, “For years families have been planning vacations at the Dells. The last thing this jewel in Wisconsin’s tourism crown needs is a facility that promotes promiscuity among unmarried young people and consistently refers young women for abortions all under the misguided notion of “family planning.” In addition, much of what this facility will offer will be paid for with taxpayer money”
