Eden, Wis. couple on World Meeting of Families panel Friday Sept 25th

Gina Loehr explained at the Milwaukee Catholic Herald how a book she wrote lead to an invitation from Archbishop Charles J. Chaput of Philadlephia.
"Because of the research I had done about the Holy Father for my book, 'Saint Francis, Pope Francis: A Common Vision, they [conference organizers] proposed that I speak on a panel about Pope Francis and the family. The congress organizers asked that Joe and I speak together as a couple."
That's Joseph Loehr, her husband. The Herald notes the Loehrs are
"parents of five children, [and] are members of Shepherd of the Hills Parish, Eden. Joseph is partner-owner of Loehr Dairy, LLC, a 700-acre dairy farm that has been in his family for 130 years and Gina is an instructor of theology at Marian University of Wisconsin."
(Eden is in rural Fond du Lac County, northwest of Milwaukee.)

Mrs. Loehr suggests reading Love is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive [pdf 127 pages].

"This 'preparatory catechesis' outlines 10 topics that affect families, laying the groundwork for the sessions that will be going on at the congress."

P.S. Live Streaming of the conference will be available.

NYTimes article on Catholic comedian Jim Gaffigan: Five Children. Any Questions?

Comedian Jim Gaffigan Takes Sundays Off From Stand-Up
On Sundays, the comedian and actor Jim Gaffigan, 46, takes a day off from stand-up. Instead of performing, he collects new fodder during family outings with his wife, Jeannie Noth Gaffigan, and their five children, Marre, 9; Jack, 7; Katie, 4; Michael, 22 months; and Patrick, 7 months, and time spent at their home, a fifth-floor walk-up on the Bowery. Some of this material can be seen and heard in Mr. Gaffigan’s Grammy-nominated, downloadable comedy special, “Mr. Universe,” and on his national tour. It also fills the pages of his new book, “Dad Is Fat,” which was released last week.

HOMECOMING Being a stand-up comedian, often I will be flying back very early on Sunday. I’ll fly back into La Guardia or J.F.K. or Newark, and then I will head home and maybe I’ll cook breakfast for the kids. I’ll make them scrambled eggs and toast and kind of destroy the place. Then we will do, like, a handoff where my wife will wake up at say, 9:30, 10, and then I’ll hand off to her and then I’ll go back to bed.

CHURCH PREP Then we’ll valiantly attempt to get our five children to church on time at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. We try and get them out the door and bring stuff for them to do at church. Church is the last thing that a kid wants to do, sitting quietly and listening to a guy talking about metaphors, so getting them motivated to do that is a pretty big task.

WFA: Time to send a pro-family thank you to Governor Walker

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the questionably named "United Wisconsin" filed their recall petition just after midnight today and will begin attempting to collect 540,000 signatures to recall Governor Walker. Newspapers, TV stations and more will be covering this effort, and the liberals will claim that all of Wisconsin is opposed to the Governor.

Wisconsin Family Action thinks It's time to send a THANK YOU to Governor Walker for his pro-family stances:
We can let people know that tens of thousands of Wisconsin families want to thank Governor Walker through an inexpensive but effective tool: a GIANT THANK YOU card!

Well we didn't "defund" Planned Parenthood but definitely took a step in the right direction.

Prayer request

Please pray for a pregnant woman and her unborn child. The woman had a heart attack a week after her 4th baby was born due to the stress of the delivery on her heart. She now has cardiomiopathy and her heart is at 40%. She was told to never get pregnant again because the chance of a future pregnancy killing her was very high. She has been told by her "pro-life" doctor that she falls into the category of women who might die if she continues the pregnancy. He told her that it would be OK to end the pregnancy, according to Catholic doctrine. Without a doubt she will be continuing the pregnancy, but not everyone is having mercy on her. They have reacted with anger that she allowed herself to get pregnant again. They see this child as a mistake and not the blessing of a new life. She is a strong soul, but please pray for her.
