I'm a Knight for almost 20 years now, 3rd degree.  ... I'll try not to say anything rash but let's just say I'm disappointed.  I had planned on eventually moving to 4th degree.... but I'm not now.

Silver rose makes stop at Good Help Shine

One of six silver roses traveling across North America this year to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary came to the Champion shrine.

CHAMPION - Almost 100 pilgrims came to The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help on Monday to see one of six silver roses that are passing through North America this year.

The Knights of Columbus presents the Running of the Rose, an annual program started in 1960 by the Catholic service organization’s youth group, the Columbian Squires, to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe or the Blessed Virgin Mary.

WI Bishops praise Knights of Columbus for work to support Church teachings

GREEN BAY — Standing as devoted defenders of the faith and supporters of the new evangelization are two of the most important tasks facing the Knights of Columbus now and in the future, state bishops said during the 114th annual gathering of the Wisconsin Knights on April 25.

Green Bay Bishop David L. Ricken, Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki and Madison Bishop Robert C. Morlino joined to concelebrate Mass during the group’s convention at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Green Bay.

“The Knights of Columbus help the dioceses greatly, first as good examples of family men and their families committed to wanting the Catholic way of life,” Bishop Ricken said following Mass attended by nearly 1,400 Knights and their families.

FatherZ: Traditional Knights Unite!

I had a note from a good friend, and very active Knight, who is trying to put together an initiative for traditionally-minded Knights of Columbus.

He pointed out that over the last year several posts here announced Masses in the Extraordinary Form sponsored by Knights of Columbus Councils.

So, having had conversation with a friend who is a Knight, and who is interested in carrying forward an initiative to get different Councils talking to each other, if you know of or are involved with a Knights of Columbus Council that supports or sponsors Mass in the extraordinary form, you might send your contact information to this e-mail address tradknight {at] gmail DOT com which my friend set up to put these councils into contact with each other.

Perhaps a first project could be to set up a meeting of members of traditional Councils and organize, say, a Pontifical Mass.

Just thinking out aloud.

Cardinal Burke, Archbishop Nienstedt to speak to KCs in Stillwater, MN

Cardinal Raymond Burke, former archbishop of St. Louis now assigned to the Vatican, will celebrate Mass and speak at the second Stillwater Knights of Columbus - Solanus Casey Council No. 1632 "Light Their Way" dinner January 3.

The dinner is a fundraiser for the tuition assistance funds of St. Croix Catholic School and St. Croix Catholic Foundation. The tuition fund provides financial assistance to St. Croix Valley families regardless of income who want their children to receive a Catholic education.

Dinner chairman Dan Eder said Burke celebrates Mass at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 3 at the Church of St. Michael, 611 S. 3rd St. The Mass is followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner in the Social Hall at St. Michael where Burke will speak on the importance of a Catholic education. The Mass and dinner are open to the public.

"The Mass is open to the public as seating is available," Eder said.

Joining Burke at the Mass and dinner will be the Most Rev. John Nienstedt, archbishop of St. Paul-Minneapolis and officials from other area dioceses, Eder said.

Eder said Burke's appearance at the dinner was the result of work by several people, including Stillwater businessman and St. Michael's lay theologian, Dr. Thomas Loome, owner of Loome's Theological Books, and the Rev. Michael Miller.

Knights of Columbus Rosary of Guadalupan Love tonight at 8pm

The Knights of Columbus announced today that to celebrate the Bicentennial of Mexico’s National Independence, the organization will hold a world-wide Rosary, which will be prayed on September 8. During the closing of its 128th Supreme Convention in Washington D.C., the Knights of Columbus announced that as part of the festivities to celebrate Mexico's bicentennial, the Knights, the Archdiocese of Mexico City and the Institute of Guadalupan Studies will organize an event called the “Universal Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.”

According to the Knights, “The purpose of the event is to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe as the ‘Shield and the Patroness of Our Liberty’ and as the Mother of the Civilization of Love.”

During this event, on September 8, 2010, a special “Rosary of Guadalupan Love” will be prayed in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. CST.

“The 'Rosary of Guadalupan Love' is a special prayer designed to connect the messages Our Lady of Guadalupe gave to St. Juan Diego with the seven sacraments of the Church and the Church as the sacrament of salvation,” the Knights explained.

“This event is to be celebrated worldwide, uniting in prayer the members of all Knights of Columbus councils and their families, and all dioceses of the universal Church throughout the world.”

The intention of the Rosary on that day will be “for Our Lady’s intercession with her son for unity and peace so that the new evangelization may bring about a flourishing of a Culture of Life among all continents and all peoples,” the fraternal organization concluded.

Also this is being celebrated publicly tonight at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse.  I'm not sure if other councils in the state are offering a public service or not.

Novena for Pope Benedict XVI - K of C

The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a novena for the Holy Father who is under attack of mindless accusations in recent weeks(usually these kinds of attacks happen right before/during Holy Week.
