Madison's Our Lady of Hope Clinic & Women's Care Center host benefit this Saturday, May 10

MADISON -- Our Lady of Hope Clinic and the Women’s Care Center are partnering to hold “A Celebration of Life” with a benefit dinner for both organizations to be held on Saturday, May 10, at the Alliant Energy Center.

Members of the community are welcome to attend. The benefit will begin with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a program detailing how both organizations have worked to build a culture of life in Dane County.

Clinic marks fifth anniversary

Our Lady of Hope Clinic, which will be celebrating its fifth anniversary this spring, is Dane County’s only pro-life primary care clinic. The clinic also provides free primary medical care to the uninsured.

Dr. Michael Kloess, Our Lady of Hope Clinic’s attending physician, is a family practitioner treating the entire family for a full range of primary care.

Dr. Kloess also consults in Natural Family Planning and has helped many couples who have struggled with infertility conceive children by using NaPro Technology.

Dr. Kloess practices medicine consistent with the Catholic healthcare tradition and will not prescribe or refer for contraception, abortion, sterilization, or euthanasia.

Vicki McKenna Talks Botched Abortions at Madison Planned Parenthood, Plays 911 Tape

News of ambulances at the Madison Planned Parenthood is spreading quickly, and now 911 call audio has surfaced from one of the incidents. Yesterday, Vicki McKenna played the audio in question on her show, highlighting the severe pain the woman was in and the absurdity of the request from Planned Parenthood that lights and sirens not be used. Unsurprisingly, they were more concerned about their image than they were about the woman’s safety.

Goodman: Politically Liberal Fascists Tearing Up the Constitution in Madison

Will Goodman has offered some thoughts on the recent City of Madison ordinance targeted at pro-lifers in the city.

The Common Council of the City of Madison voted unanimously Tuesday night (2/25) to adopt an unconstitutional gag-rule resolution offered by organizations that profit from killing innocent babies in the womb (viz., NARAL and "Planned Parenthood") stating that if you disagree with the abortion status quo, you may not do so within a certain distance from the entrance of places where they violently dismember living people. The civil servants of "the People's Republic" of Madison now tell us that if you believe human life is sacred in the womb, you may NOT exercise your right to freedom of speech near their abortion mill doors. ...Or you must face the consequences.

The Madison city council thus speaks the language of the abortion industry and says to peaceful pro-lifers: "Take your signs, quiet words, polite smiles, leaflets, and your Constitutional rights and GET AWAY! OR WE WILL FINE AND ARREST YOU!!"

The new ordinance essentially states that abortion facilities are not in the United States of America, but in the arbitrary jurisdiction of the "City of Madison" --and that the abortuary properties in the city thus supersede free speech rights of the public and make void the US Constitution for those who love human persons in the womb as well as their mothers.

This is yet another very troubling and twisted move towards left-wing fascism, liberal totalitarianism, abortion-tyranny, and contraceptive imperialism. (Like the HHS mandate, Obamacare, tax-funded abortions/contraception, "duty to dispense" pharmacy rules, the elimination of conscientious objection to abortion in hospitals/med schools, broad EC legislative mandates, restrictive insurance coverage mandates for abortifacients, etc.)

Even for those who favor the violence of abortion, this move should sound an alarm. That is because it means ANY city council anywhere can arbitrarily criminalize time-honored, peaceful free-speech conduct in public areas and on public sidewalks just because those few individuals with civil power happen to disagree with your thoughts and words, as well as your message and your politics!

Classical "liberals" and many left-leaning free speech advocates would often quote the violent Voltaire who they claim to have said that he would fight for your right to say the very things with which he so strongly disagreed.

Nowadays, many modern self-styled "liberals" or "progressives" will rather fight (with unjust positive laws) to SILENCE your rights to speak on issues with with they strongly disagree. If you are on the "wrong-side" of their political progressivism, then they believe you have no rights. End of discussion. And therefore, embracing and even protecting these unjust intrusions into the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are now considered being "enlightened", "civil" and "humane" by such "progressives".

Welcome to "progressive fascism".

This is NOT liberal. This is NOT progressive. And this is certainly NOT American. No city council ever has the right to eviscerate, restrict or revise the US Constitution and remove the free-speech rights of any citizens. Period.

Madison Vigil for Life sees turn-around numbers skyrocket

The following article is the first in a three-part series on Vigil for Life of Madison. Part two will appear tomorrow. Part three will appear next week.

Most, if not all of our readers will be familiar with 40 Days for Life--the worldwide coordinated 40 day prayer vigils in front of abortion facilities leading to thousands of saved lives and conversions of dozens of workers in the abortion industry.

Madison held its first 40 Days for Life campaign in 2007. (I was living in Chicago at the time and got involved for the 2008 campaign.) Between the 2007 and 2008 campaigns, the founder started Vigil for Life of Madison, an umbrella organization that hosts 40 Days for Life as well as other pro-life vigils, retreats, speaking events and more.

In 2009-10, Vigil for Life rose to prominence by helping to lead a successful effort to derail plans to perform late-term abortions through the University of Wisconsin Hospital.

Following the successful cancellation of the UW Hospital's abortion venture, Vigil for Life launched the 365 for Life initiative. Since then, prayer warriors have held vigil in from of the Madison Planned Parenthood every day it's been open. If memory serves me correctly, there might have been a blizzard or two that kept us off the streets for a day, but only in truly extreme circumstances have we let weather keep us off the streets.

Recently, Vigil for Life expanded its vigil schedule to include all business hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays--the days on which abortions are usually performed--in addition to covering a number of hours on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. The expansion takes place as Vigil for Life prayer warriors and sidewalk counselors report a dramatic number of saved babies and turnarounds.

Typically, we might only confirm one or two turnarounds each year. But recently, that number has jumped to about five turnarounds a month!

There's two main reasons for this:
  1. A few years ago, Amy Lang (the founder of Vigil for Life), her husband, and two other couples purchased the building across the street from Planned Parenthood. After taking some time for prayerful discernment, they opened the Women's Care Center--a Catholic crisis pregnancy center. Having a pregnancy center director across the street has helped give women a convenient and feasible alternative to abortion.
  2. In early 2011, Vigil for Life began training hundreds of sidewalk counselors to actively engage abortion-minded women. As a result, the counselors have found success presenting women with options beyond ending the life of a child.
The dramatic increase in the number of saved babies has been encouraging, but it has also strained Vigil for Life--which is a volunteer-led organization with no staff and a budget of less than $1,000 each year. Filling more than 50 one-hour shifts during the workweek 12 months a year has proven difficult. To get involved (or for more information), visit VigilforLife.org or email info@vigilforlife.org.
