Sauk City family with nine children threatened by state for child labor violations in family owned bakery

The owners of a family-owned business in Sauk City are receiving backlash for allowing their children to help inside their bakery. The state is now auditing the business for potentially breaking child labor laws.

Curtis and Vickie Eberle, who own The Mixing Bowl Bakery, dreamed of opening their own business. A large part of that dream involved having their nine children there to help at the bakery.

"The customers love them. They love talking to them and interacting with them," Vickie Eberle said.

The couple's nine children range in age from 11 to 6 weeks old. [nicely done!  Two sets of twins in there.] A number of the kids help do everything from making pies to serving customers in the bakery.
The Department of Workforce Development sent a letter to the business on April 4, informing the couple they would be audited, after the department received "several" complaints regarding minors working in the bakery. The letter warned if they continue to allow their children to work, they could be in violation of state child labor laws. The couple immediately stopped allowing the children to work.

Major in Logic at UW-Madison

Several students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison admit that Muslims should not be forced by law to do business with Christians. Those same students, however, had a hard time agreeing that Christians or conservative Americans have the right to decline work that conflicts with their conscience or religion.

In a viral video published by Arizona-based nonprofit Alliance Defending Freedom (ADL), students were asked if they support Sophie Theallet’s decision not to dress Melania Trump.

Several students agreed that Theallet — one of many fashion designers declining to dress the first family — has every right to refuse to dress Mrs. Trump.

The students were also asked if a Muslim singer solicited by a Christian church to sing had a right to refuse.

University of Wisconsin Course Examines Negative Effects of Masculinity

A six-week program offered at the University of Wisconsin-Madison aims to counter the effects of the societal expectation for men to be masculine.

The program centers on the premise that masculinity is primarily a societal construct rather than an intrinsic biological reality. Based on this premise, radical gender theorists argue that masculinity has a toxic influence on society.

The “Men’s Project” is a six-week program for male students that asks participants to reflect on the negative effects of the expectation to be masculine. A news release from the University of Wisconsin material claims that one of the goals is to “prevent future violence” from male students.

After Madison Cathedral burned to the ground by arson in 2005, city forces property tax payment of 100K per year with judicial strongarm!

The Downtown property that once held St. Raphael’s Cathedral, a church rectory and a religious school doesn’t qualify for a property tax exemption for religious use, a Dane County judge ruled Tuesday.

While Dane County Circuit Judge Rhonda Lanford agreed that the property is being used for a religious purpose, it failed to satisfy a second requirement under state law that the property is “necessary for (the) location and convenience of buildings,” such as a future cathedral to replace St. Raphael’s, which was destroyed by an arson fire in 2005.

St. Raphael’s Congregation, the listed owner of the property at 204 W. Main St., sued the city last year, claiming it was improperly assessed property taxes for 2014 for the parcel because it still serves a religious purpose following construction of a Way of the Cross on the property, made up of 14 stations commemorating key locations along the route that Jesus took on the day of his crucifixion.

#DoubleStandard  Would a mosque suffer the same legal attacks in Madtown?  Flying Spaghetti Monsters?  Yeah.   Perhaps Catholics in Dane County can apply for Dhimmi status?

Welp, I'm ready to contribute to a new cathedral.  Anyone else?

Update: Statement from Madison Diocese:
NB: The property in dispute (204 W. Main) was donated to the Church by Governor James Doty, in 1848, and has been in use by the Catholic community on the Isthmus ever since.

Goodman: Politically Liberal Fascists Tearing Up the Constitution in Madison

Will Goodman has offered some thoughts on the recent City of Madison ordinance targeted at pro-lifers in the city.

The Common Council of the City of Madison voted unanimously Tuesday night (2/25) to adopt an unconstitutional gag-rule resolution offered by organizations that profit from killing innocent babies in the womb (viz., NARAL and "Planned Parenthood") stating that if you disagree with the abortion status quo, you may not do so within a certain distance from the entrance of places where they violently dismember living people. The civil servants of "the People's Republic" of Madison now tell us that if you believe human life is sacred in the womb, you may NOT exercise your right to freedom of speech near their abortion mill doors. ...Or you must face the consequences.

The Madison city council thus speaks the language of the abortion industry and says to peaceful pro-lifers: "Take your signs, quiet words, polite smiles, leaflets, and your Constitutional rights and GET AWAY! OR WE WILL FINE AND ARREST YOU!!"

The new ordinance essentially states that abortion facilities are not in the United States of America, but in the arbitrary jurisdiction of the "City of Madison" --and that the abortuary properties in the city thus supersede free speech rights of the public and make void the US Constitution for those who love human persons in the womb as well as their mothers.

This is yet another very troubling and twisted move towards left-wing fascism, liberal totalitarianism, abortion-tyranny, and contraceptive imperialism. (Like the HHS mandate, Obamacare, tax-funded abortions/contraception, "duty to dispense" pharmacy rules, the elimination of conscientious objection to abortion in hospitals/med schools, broad EC legislative mandates, restrictive insurance coverage mandates for abortifacients, etc.)

Even for those who favor the violence of abortion, this move should sound an alarm. That is because it means ANY city council anywhere can arbitrarily criminalize time-honored, peaceful free-speech conduct in public areas and on public sidewalks just because those few individuals with civil power happen to disagree with your thoughts and words, as well as your message and your politics!

Classical "liberals" and many left-leaning free speech advocates would often quote the violent Voltaire who they claim to have said that he would fight for your right to say the very things with which he so strongly disagreed.

Nowadays, many modern self-styled "liberals" or "progressives" will rather fight (with unjust positive laws) to SILENCE your rights to speak on issues with with they strongly disagree. If you are on the "wrong-side" of their political progressivism, then they believe you have no rights. End of discussion. And therefore, embracing and even protecting these unjust intrusions into the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are now considered being "enlightened", "civil" and "humane" by such "progressives".

Welcome to "progressive fascism".

This is NOT liberal. This is NOT progressive. And this is certainly NOT American. No city council ever has the right to eviscerate, restrict or revise the US Constitution and remove the free-speech rights of any citizens. Period.

FFRF again erects irreverent Nativity scene in Wisconsin Capitol Rotunda

For the second year in a row, atheists in Wisconsin have set up their own version of the traditional Christian creche in the Capitol Rotunda.

Like typical depictions of the Christian Nativity scene, the “natural nativity scene” displays a small child in a manger surrounded by wisemen. However, this display proclaims “the reason for the season” is the Winter Solstice and the wisemen are not strictly men — Emma Goldman, the goddess Venus and the Statue of Liberty stand beside Charlies Darwin, Albert Einstein and Thomas Jefferson. The baby Jesus has been replaced with a baby girl.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation set up the atheist creche last year after the conservative group Wisconsin Family Action placed a Nativity scene in the Wisconsin Capitol Rotunda for the first time.

“We nonbelievers don’t mind sharing the season with Christians, but we think there should be some acknowledgment that the Christians really ‘stole’ the trimmings of Christmas, and the sun-god myths, from pagans,” FFRF co-president Annie Laurie Gaylor said in a statement.
continue at raw story

In a certain sense, the Church did "steal" the idea from the pagans, as Christians have "baptized" many pagan practices to assist people in believing in Truth.  Christ was not born on December 25, but that doesn't mean He is not the Light of the World.  My question is that if atheism is so great, why can't they come up with their own holidays?  This tiny little word has no palette or paint.  They do not "pro-create."  Like Melkor in the Simarillion, they want the world to themselves, but wouldn't know what to do with it if they had it.
