40 Days for Life Kenosha to Host Steve Karlen and Chris Davis
With New York’s passage of the Reproductive Health Act, which permits abortion to the moment of birth, many more individuals are asking what can be done in response. 40 Days for Life is a life-saving prayer campaign that will take place throughout the archdiocese, beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 6, and concluding on Palm Sunday, April 14. 40 Days for Life is comprised of 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities and educational outreach with the goal of protecting mothers and their unborn children from abortion. According to 40 Days for Life, more than 15,000 children have been saved from abortion during these twice-a-year campaigns.continue at MkeCH
At 10 a.m. March 19, the Feast of St. Joseph, Campaign Director Steve Karlen and Campaign Strategist Chris Davis from 40 Days for Life will join participants in prayer at Planned Parenthood, 3601 Roosevelt Road, Kenosha.
According to Karen Mathis, Kenosha 40 Days for Life Coordinator, 350 babies in Racine and Kenosha lose their lives to abortion each year. She is looking forward to Karlen and Davis offering prayerful encouragement at the abortion referral center.
Three is also the number of times Steve has paid full price for Brewers tickets.

Milwaukee Miracles
You may know Milwaukee’s Dan Miller from the 40 Days for Life book. And if you’ve ever been to the vigil site in Milwaukee, you’ve seen Dan because you can’t miss him! He’s around 6 feet 7 … with a heart to match his size.
He’s the local 40 Days for Life leader ... and he's been used by God to witness many miracles on the sidewalk in Milwaukee. Here’s an account of just a few … which include at least four babies saved from abortion! We're also including some photos from the Milwaukee vigil.
As you’ll be able to see, Dan keeps very accurate records.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
“At 11:47 am, God showed us our first save,” Dan said. “The first thing about this couple that I noticed was their happy demeanor. We talked back and forth in Spanish – and the next thing you know they are telling me that they are keeping the baby. They looked so good with their decision to parent their child – they were absolutely glowing.”40 Days for Life
At 12:24 pm, another couple walked out – and they also looked happy. “I noticed was her lipstick, which was like a sea-blue,” he said. “I used that as an ice-breaker – and the next thing you know, they are taking one of our gifts – and I’m blessing them and their baby.”
Bishop John Doerfler speaks at Marquette, MI 40 Days for Life Kickoff
You might remember that late last summer, the abortion facility in Green Bay closed its doors for good. A few months later, the Diocese of Green Bay lost its Vicar General, Fr. John Doerfler, who was named and installed as the Bishop of Marquette, MI.
What do these two news items from 2013 have in common?
Unfortunately, Planned Parenthood in Upper Michigan started dispensing chemical abortion pills following the end of abortion in Green Bay. As such, some Yoopers for Life launched a 40 Days for Life campaign in Marquette. Bishop John Doerfler offered remarks at the kickoff event. The diocesan newspaper, UP Catholic, was there to cover his remarks:
If any of the Wisconsin dioceses are doing video reporting, I haven't seen it. Well done, Yooper Catholics!
Here is additional footage from the kickoff rally.
I'll be speaking at the midpoint rally on Tuesday, March 25 (the Feast of the Annunciation!) at 5:30 p.m. in Marquette.

Madison to consider buffer zone outside abortion clinics
![]() |
| Official Badger Catholic aunt sighting!! |
A Madison City Council member is seeking to create a buffer zone at the entrances of health care facilities — including an East Side abortion clinic — to protect patients and employees from harassment by protesters.
But opponents of abortion rights say restrictions are unnecessary, violate the First Amendment and could bring a legal challenge.
Ald. Lisa Subeck, 1st District, on Tuesday intends to formally propose a law to create a protective zone within 160 feet of health clinics to allow patients and others to enter and exit without obstruction.
The proposal would ban protesters from being within 8 feet of a person — unless the person consents — to engage in oral protest, education, counseling, passing leaflets or handbills, or displaying signs if on a public way or sidewalk within the 160-foot-protective zone. Such protests can already be prohibited on private property.
The law, to be introduced on the eve of the 41st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision ensuring a woman’s right to an abortion, is inspired by continuing protests at Planned Parenthood’s East Side clinic, the lone Madison abortion provider and one of only four in the state.
It comes as the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to consider a challenge to a 2007 Massachusetts law that keeps protesters 35 feet from entrances to abortion clinics.

Milwaukee's Pro-life advocate Dan Miller says ‘farewell to Farwell’
continue at MilCatHeraldAn injunction for harassment was recently granted against a local pro-life advocate and leader of 40 Days for Life, a campaign working to end abortion through prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil, that could keep him from volunteering near Affiliated Medical Services on Farwell Avenue until Dec. 17, 2017.
Dan Miller
But Dan Miller, with the help of the Chicago-based Thomas More Society, a national public interest law firm, and local lead counsel from a Brookfield-based law firm, will appeal the injunction that stems from a Temporary Restraining Order Milwaukee Police served Miller June 19, 2012, at the request of Alan Keltner.
Miller said Keltner, a volunteer for Affiliated Medical Services, is “very aggressive, more than most,”[LOL! He's going to charge!] while Miller and volunteers are on the sidewalk counseling women heading into the abortion clinic. The injunction hearing came after an event that happened involving 40 Days for Life volunteers and Keltner in October.
“He approached one of our vigiler’s three daughters and began to occupy their personal space uncomfortably close and took it upon himself to give them a completely inappropriate sex education class … ” Miller said, explaining he knew who Keltner was and wanted to make others who brought children to pray with them aware of his actions.
Steve Karlen at 40 Days for Life-Dallas Kick-off Rally
I had the exciting opportunity to give the keynote address at the 40 Days for Life Kickoff Rally in Dallas back in September. The event was attended by hundreds, and the entire campaign boasted about 5,000 participants! My friends down in Texas were kind enough to share the video.
Recently, I've been blessed with more opportunities to speak at rallies, fundraising events, retreats and conferences to help promote the pro-life message and encourage folks to invest themselves in the pro-life movement. To help facilitate these efforts, I've created a Facebook page for my speaking engagements. I'd be most honored if you would "like" this page and share it with others who might like it too.

Bishop Jenky leads rosary at Peoria abortion clinic
October is Respect Life Month. Last night, Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, led about 60 people in praying the rosary on the sidewalk in front of National Health Care Inc., 7405 N. University, Peoria, where abortions are performed. The prayer was in conjunction with 40 Days for Life, which is under way in Peoria, Champaign, Ottawa and the Quad Cities. 40 Days save in Milwaukee
Dan noticed a young mom he had recognized from earlier in the day, sitting on the doorsteps. “I asked her if she was going to be OK,” he said. She responded, “What did you tell my boyfriend?” Dan told her, “Probably what I tell them all – go inside and get her out of there! The time is NOW to save your baby’s life!” The woman looked surprised. “Seriously? That’s all you said? Somehow, you lit him up. And it worked. He talked me out of it.”
“I was dumbstruck; but not for long,” Dan said. “I told her about the free help across the street. She said she would check it out”

40 Days for Life planning underway in Madison, Green Bay
From the Madison Catholic Herald:
Click here to like Madison Vigil for Life (the umbrella organization that hosts 40 Days for Life in Madison).
MADISON -- The volunteer meeting for Madison’s 40 Days for Life vigil was highlighted with the news of an abortion clinic ceasing operations in Green Bay. That development is serving as motivation to help the same thing happen here. The next 40 Days for Life is scheduled to take place Wednesday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 3. The effort calls for people to come out and pray near abortion clinics to help end abortion.Green Bay's 40 Days for Life leader (and pro-life force of nature) Jim Ball spoke to motivate the attendees.
Ball spearheaded a campaign to massively increase the number of volunteers. He shared his experience with the Madison group, in the hopes of encouraging the same results.Read the rest of the article. There's a lot of good stuff. And do get involved in your local 40 Days for Life campaign.
As the meeting started, Ball was choked up with emotion announcing the end of the “abortion mill” in Green Bay. This was met with loud applause by the crowd of about 40.
